Celebrating Structural Engineering Excellence
Structural engineers don’t just make the built world possible; they make it safe, resilient, and inspiring. We SEE Above & Beyond is the structural engineering community’s commitment to showcasing that impact—by telling the stories behind the structures and the professionals who bring them to life.
From soaring towers and elegant bridges to the homes and schools that shape our lives, structural engineers are the creative problem-solvers turning vision into reality.

How We SEE Elevates the Structural Engineering Profession
The NCSEA Foundation is committed to strengthening the future of structural engineering by elevating the profession itself. Through the We SEE Above & Beyond campaign, the Foundation helps raise the visibility, understanding, and perceived value of structural engineers within the broader AEC community.
Structural engineering is essential to every building, every skyline, and every resilient community. Yet the work of structural engineers is often overlooked by those who rely on it most. We SEE Above & Beyond was created to close that gap—showing architects, building owners, and community leaders what structural engineers contribute, why their involvement matters, and how early collaboration leads to better outcomes.
Supported by contributions from the NCSEA Foundation, the campaign directs significant resources toward industry-wide outreach, with a lifetime spend of more than $110,000. These investments ensure the structural engineering voice is part of the conversations shaping today’s built environment.
Outreach Across the AEC Industry
We SEE brings structural engineering perspectives directly to the architects, owners, and other stakeholders who shape project decisions:
- Reaching architects through targeted AIA-focused email campaigns that highlight how structural engineers strengthen project outcomes.
- Profiling award-winning structural engineering projects to showcase excellence, innovation, and the value SEs bring to design teams.
- Gathering insights directly from structural engineers to understand the issues they want elevated in national messaging and advertising.
- Showing building owners, facility managers, and property developers why structural engineering expertise is essential for safe, cost-effective decision-making—supported by partnerships and advertising with organizations such as BOMA.
- Engaging AEC professionals through digital advertising that positions structural engineers as indispensable partners in quality, safety, resilience, and long-term project performance.
- Coordinating with SEs to ensure representation at key industry conferences, including AIA 2025, where SE voices and expertise reach countless decision-makers.
- Highlighting opportunities where structural engineers play a crucial role: adaptive reuse, resilience, artificial intelligence, and the cross-disciplinary collaboration needed to build a future that is safe, sustainable, and valuable.

A Commitment to Advocacy and Visibility
At its core, We SEE Above & Beyond is the structural engineering community’s commitment to telling its story directly to the audiences who need to hear it most. The campaign brings forward the people, the projects, and the everyday decisions that make our built world possible. And through the support of the NCSEA Foundation, these efforts continue to expand, reaching more partners, inspiring more collaboration, and strengthening the profession for generations to come.
What’s Next: Building the Future of the Profession
At the NCSEA Foundation, we don’t just celebrate the profession—we invest in its future.
That’s why we’re thrilled to be developing new programs that introduce the next generation to the power of structural engineering. Launching in early 2026, our upcoming K–12 outreach initiative will use hands-on tools like LEGO® bricks, Play-Doh, and Mola kits to spark creativity and curiosity in classrooms across the country.
These efforts are part of a broader Foundation vision:
- To champion innovation
- To empower future leaders
- And to affirm the critical role of licensed structural engineers in solving society’s biggest challenges
The future looks bright, and we hope you’ll be part of it.
